Spring Style Forecast: 3 Things I Can’t Wait to Wear in Boston

Hi! My name is Sam and I’m super excited to start sharing all things thrifting, fashion, and Indy Clover with you! As a self-proclaimed “professional thrifter” with 3 years of experience creating and selling curated thrift collections online and now working at Indy Clover Wakefield (a short 30min drive outside of Boston), I’m excited to share all my tips and secrets for thrifting and styling!

Spring is finally defrosting, and you know what that means — it’s time to shed the heavy layers! I’m so excited to experience my first New England spring! I’m originally from Texas, where we don’t really have seasons – it’s either really hot or really cold (sometimes both within the same week) – so I’m super excited to experience a Boston spring!
This spring, I’m all about embracing color, comfort, and unexpected combos. Here are the three things I’m most excited to wear (and thrift!) this spring:
1. Butter Yellow Everything
Nothing says spring like soft, buttery shades of yellow (or, nothing says you’re chronically online like referring to “pastel yellow” as “butter yellow”), but I’m here for it. Whether you’re a neutral lover, a color enthusiast, or a mix of both, it’s the perfect color to add to your wardrobe! I recently thrifted a vintage oversized Brooks Brothers butter yellow cotton sweater that I’ve been having fun styling for the changing weather. I also have been incorporating butter yellow into my accessories via a bandana from Madewell (sale rack! $3!). I'll tie it in my hair, on my bag, or wear it as a neck scarf giving my outfits the perfect pop of color!

2. Track Pants, But Make It Chic
I love finding ways to be both comfy and stylish, and track pants are my next endeavor. They’re the perfect way to bring a pop of color to your outfit while keeping a casual and comfy feel. Track pants are also the perfect transition piece from winter to spring, and even spring into summer. I’m currently on the hunt to thrift a pair either in red, navy, or green! My vision is to pair them with an oversized knit sweater or jacket and a pair of colorful sneakers, ballet flats, or loafers for the perfect effortlessly chic spring look!

3. Mixing Patterns with Confidence
If there’s one thing I’m challenging myself to do more of this spring, it’s mixing patterns with confidence. Stripes with florals? Yes. Leopard with gingham? Why not! The key is to find a common color thread that ties everything together. I’m picturing a quilted jacket over a pair of cotton striped pants or a thrifted striped blouse with a vintage floral midi skirt that can create a playful, layered look without feeling chaotic. Spring can have unpredictable weather, especially in Boston, meaning layering is a must anyway—so why not make it fun?

With the change of the seasons, spring is the best time to try something new and push the boundaries of your style. Whether you're thrifting for hidden gems at Indy Clover or styling what you already own in new ways, there’s no wrong way to express yourself through fashion. Let’s make this season our most creative yet—what pieces are you excited to style this spring?
